The Big Interview: Jackie Groenen
As the Netherlands international signs a new deal at PSG through to 2027, the midfielder speaks exclusively to WFC about her life in Paris, how she's grown as a midfielder, rivalry with Lyon and more.
Jackie Groenen describes herself as “really happy” to be signing a new contract with PSG, and the beaming smile which accompanies the comment backs up the sentiment.
Speaking just a few days ahead of an announcement to confirm the Netherlands international has extended her stay at the club she joined from Manchester United two years ago, Groenen has found herself a new home in the French capital, and will now be staying in Paris until at least 2027.
“It was a big move for me to come here,” Groenen admits. “I came here from a place I was very comfortable [in]. It was a big step for me to come to another country, another place and start over again.
“But I’ve been really happy here, so I’m happy to be able to stay here and continue being here, working here. I’m really loving life.”

At 29, Groenen is now enjoying her peak years at one of Europe’s top clubs, and as she enthuses about what the players have access to on their campus, it’s not hard to understand why PSG continues to be such an attraction, despite again lagging just behind rivals Lyon in all competitions last season.
Groenen has been a Parisian since 2022 yet has just a Coupe de France to show for it, with PSG beating Fleury 91 in last year’s final after the semi-professional side stunned Lyon in the semi-finals, but off the pitch it hasn’t taken her long to feel at home – or certainly closer to home.
“It’s hard to put it all into just a couple of sentences, but I’ve been really happy from the moment I got here. I needed some months to get used to the lifestyle on and off the pitch, the way of playing too, but as soon as I found my way and settled in, I’ve felt at home.
