For a 22-year-old, Hanna Bennison has already seen a lot, experienced a lot, and achieved a lot, in such a short space of time.

She is fast approaching 50 senior caps for her country, Sweden, is starring for one of Italian’s biggest clubs in Juventus, both off the back of making her debut for Sweden’s most successful women’s club at 15 and a Women’s Super League club in England making her their most expensive signing when she was still just a teenager.

Right now, she’s in the midst of helping Juventus wrestle back their Serie A title from AS Roma, which an 11-point gap over the two nearest rivals means they’re almost certain to do.

After three years at Everton, Bennison moved to Turin in the summer and has enjoyed an immediate impact, featuring in 19 of the team’s 21 league games until now.

“I haven’t been here that long, but it has felt good,” says Bennison, sat in a club office where a iconic black and white striped shirt sits draped over a chair in the background.

“It felt good here from the beginning. I’m really happy here, happy we are winning a lot of games and happy we are top of the league.”

Serie A has taken big steps forward in recent years, with Juventus themselves launching a professional women’s team less than a decade ago, dominating the early seasons until AS Roma took over in the past few seasons.

The likes of AC Milan, Inter Milan, Fiorentina and others have also invested in professional women’s setups, and after coming from England where the women’s domestic game has been thriving, Bennison admits it’s been a surprise to her how competitive the sport in Italy is.

“To be honest, I didn’t expect it to be this competitive when I first came, so I’ve had a lot of positive feelings about the league, and it’s really good to see how many clubs are really investing in their women’s teams in Italy now.

“There are no easy games, which I think is good for the league, for the development of the league and everyone here. It’s a really developing league and it’s only going to get better and better.”

The sun is also a pleasant change from life in north west England!

“It's a bit different compared to England and Sweden! There’s definitely a bit more sun, but there’s a lot of culture, it’s a really nice place to live and I’ve been really happy here.”

From the present day, we move to the past, and how Bennison got into playing football in the first place.
